How we choose colours for an old photograph
Good colorization is not a random palette applied over a black-and-white image. Clothing, uniforms, jewellery, hair and skin are considered separately, and uncertain details are left for the client to confirm.

Uniforms, wedding dress, school blazers and family clothing are researched where possible. We ask rather than invent when the original colour is unknown.

What helps a colorization look convincing
Tell us the person's natural hair colour, eye colour and any remembered clothing colours. If you have a colour reference from the same period, send it as a separate reference file rather than a heavily filtered version of the original.
We can also leave the image monochrome and repair the damage first. Some families prefer that; the right choice depends on the photograph and the way you intend to use it.

No honest restorer can guarantee a colour that is not recorded in the photograph. We use available evidence and family confirmation, and we show the result before payment.
Can colorization be combined with damage repair?
Yes. Tears, fading and missing corners can be restored first, then colour can be added in a separate pass.
What file will I receive?
A high-resolution digital file suitable for personal use and local printing. We do not include physical prints, frames or shipping.
