Echoes in the English Garden: Restoring a Heavily Fractured Edwardian Sisters Portrait | Studio Journal
An overseas patron sent in a severely damaged Edwardian silver-gelatin cabinet portrait from the early 1900s. In the picture, two young sisters stand before the ivy-draped brick wall of a countryside garden, yet the surface was devastated by dense spiderweb fractures and deep shear creases directly severing the face, brow, and throat. Master artist ABiao executed micro-alignment of the shattered emulsion, historical research into Edwardian day dresses and Gibson Girl pompadours, and atmospheric color grading under British diffuse garden light, reviving the tender sibling devotion of a century past.
